Scouting
I give alot of my personal time to Scouting in Northern Ireland and the development of the youth, after all they are nothing but our future.
I am involved in the following ways.

As a District Explorer Scout Commissioner, My job is to run the program for the 80 + youth members of the Explorer Scout section in Lisburn. Explorer Scouts is probably the most active section of the scouting section dealing with the tricky age range of 14 – 18 year olds. It is challanging but very rewarding.
Next year we have three big events in the early stages of planning
- UrbanCamp2009 – A unique and fresh concept to scouting in Northern Ireland, around 50 Explorer Scouts will decend on Lisburn Citys high street, and camp right in the middle of town!
- DistrictCamp2009 – A change for all the Explorer sections in Lisburn to get together and get to know one another properly
- 75th Anniversary Camp – Lisburn Scouting District in September 2009 will be 75 years old, and to celebrate we will all (all sections from age 6+) be heading for a massive camp of around 300 + people

Network Scouts is aimed for people aged 18 – 25, it offers young leaders the chance to be part of activities instead of running or helping to run them, its also open to people who have never been in scouting before. Last year Antrim Network Scouts ran some pretty cool events including, surfing, entering a banger rally, shooting, racing a hovercraft, and of course we ran 2 fantastic formals for Network Scouts and leaders from all over Northern Ireland.

Scouting has been good to me over the years, so to give abit back I have ran, helped to run and ran away from the following events……. (Im probably forgetting some)
- Australia 2000
- Australia national Jamboree 2000
- Caudmarra (Newcastle upon tyne)
- LookWideMarra (Newcastle upon tyne)
- Lough Dan
- Network Ball 2007 and 2008
- Irish Jamboree 2008
- Scally Rally 2008
- Bushmills 100
- Cub 24 hour challenge
- Beaver Rally day (ten years running !!!!)
- To many camping expeditions to mention

I would be grateful if you could let me know.
Thank you.
